Harnesses
When it comes to harnesses you really have two choices you can either get a waist harness or a seat harness. This article will show the differences between these two styles of harnesses as well has help you make a more informed decision as to what harness will suit your riding style and ability better.
Seat harnesses
For the beginner a seat harness is your best bet. These harnesses are designed somewhat like a pair of shorts as they go around your legs as well as your stomach and lower back. Unlike waist harnesses because of their position on your body seat harnesses won’t climb up on you.

Seat harnesses are also very good for getting reducing back pains; they give good support, and position your center of gravity lower which gives beginner riders more control and balance by allowing you to use their weight to control the kite. This lower center of gravity also allows for easier starts.
Waist harnesses
This type of harness is more regularly seen on lighter or more experienced riders. Waist harnesses are much smaller than seat harnesses and only go around ones mid section between lower stomach and chest.

These harnesses are popular because they are much less restrictive than seat harnesses giving the rider a greater ability to maneuver while in the air. They are also easier to take on and off. However because of their lack of support they can lead to pains in the torso region.
When shopping for a harness it is important to try it on and maybe even test it out if possible. Know that you’re going to be wearing it the entire time you’re on your out on your kite so comfort is an absolute must.
